Au Revoir Nice!
To end our time in Nice, I leave you with a few pictures of Vieux Nice ("The Old Town"). Since Nice was actually part of Italy prior to 1850, the colorful facades of the Old Town reflect more Italian designs and architecture than French. As beautiful as I find Paris to be, it was fabulous to enjoy something different on our vacation.

Our apartment was situated on a little plaza just to the right from this photo:

We were just around the corner from Nice's cathedral (at the right of this photo):

And we enjoyed walking all throughout the Old Town because the people were animated, the food delectable, and the shopping fascinating:

And to celebrate our final evening there, we took one last stroll along the Promenade...

And captured a few father-son pics:

And mother-son pics:

All in all, a FABULOUS fun-filled family vacation!
The Rest of Nice
Sorry this has taken so long... I've had so many things going on (which I promise to fill you in on shortly!). In the meantime, here are the pics from the rest of our time in the south of France.

The fifth day brought a lot of rain, which was unfortunate, but we still enjoyed a little excursion to Cannes, home of the annual international film festival. Oliver enjoyed the train ride there:

Fascinated by the passing views:

Once we arrived, we saw a charming little church, where we escaped the rain for just a few moments:

As the rain let up, we enjoyed a stroll along the "ritzy" promenade:

With gorgeous views out over the water:

And a final stop in front of the film festival red carpet:

The next day we enjoyed the gorgeous weather at the beach:

Oliver was unsure of the water at first:

But he warmed up to it:

And he enjoyed the lounging on the beach enormously:

Ok... I guess I can't manage to fit all the rest of the pictures in this one post... But I promise another to come soon. And then, the rest of what's been going on.... I promise!

Not Quite as Nice...
Our fourth day in Nice (when, sadly, our friends left to return to Cambridge), the weather turned a little cloudy on us. Thankfully, we were able to enjoy the lazy day anyway...

We strolled along the promenade (where, I know, the weather looks perfect, but the clouds were rolling in from the other direction):

Which Oliver thoroughly enjoyed:

Walked by Musee Massena:

And the famous Le Negresco Hotel:

And even snapped some mother-and-son photos:

That afternoon, which turned out to be quite cool and emptied the beaches, we enjoyed some non-crowded play time in the rocks. Oliver especially enjoyed putting them in his buckets:

Though he began to grow suspicious of my picture taking, apparently:

At which point he and daddy went for a walk:

This was the same day he had taken his first steps, and he was anxious to keep trying (though, admittedly, these rocks were NOT the best place to be doing so)!

He was very proud of himself:

And might have actually enjoyed this afternoon outing best of all.... Oh the simple pleasures!
